RoughRiders ousted by Dubuque, 7-3

DUBUQUE - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders lost to Dubuque, 7-3, Saturday night before 2,471 fans at the Mystique Ice Center and were eliminated from the USHL playoffs.

The Fighting Saints won the opening-round series, 3-1.

Andrew Oglevie tied the game for Cedar Rapids, 1-1, with a penalty shot in the second period, but it was all downhill from there for the RoughRiders. Dubuque scored four straight goals to take command at 5-1 in the third period.

Frederik Tiffels pulled the RoughRiders within 5-2 on a power play with 7:17 left in the game, but Dubuque scored again to make it 6-2.

Andrew Poturalski scored for Cedar Rapids with 3:23 left in the game. Dubuque collected an empty-net goal with 1:27 left to finish the scoring.

Cedar Rapids goaltender Danny Tirone was touched for six goals.
