Heitland joins MSR as Vice President

Advertising with the Metro Sports Report really works.

Take it from me. I know from first-hand experience.

Some of you may remember the "help-wanted" column we posted on the MSR website on Sunday, Oct. 19. I announced we were looking for a General Manager and invited folks to apply.

Within 24 hours, I received inquiries from six very talented and qualified people, all of whom were good candidates. The talent pool was so deep that we decided to hire two of them - one as General Manager and another as Vice-President.

We introduced Kenyon Murray as the GM on Monday, filling one spot with an outstanding person.

Now it is my great pleasure to introduce Scott Heitland as the new Vice-President of the Metro Sports Report, adding another very talented and successful person to our team.

We advertised for one job on the MSR website and ended up hiring two terrific people, so advertising with us really does work. I knew that before, but this reinforces that assertion.

Scott earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Simpson College and has more than 20 years experience in all facets of the business world.

Scott has enjoyed tremendous success. He has served as a corporate controller for 18 years, the director of cost accounting for a $3 billion bakery, and most recently was the owner and founder of a $6 million manufacturing company.

Scott owns a business recruiting company, specializing in engineering, banking and accounting.

Scott will be heavily involved in advertising sales with the Metro Sports Report and will be working with us on special projects as we continue to grow. He welcomes the challenge of working for a sports website company and is anxious to get started.

As president of the Metro Sports Report, I'd like to welcome Scott Heitland and Kenyon Murray to the company. They will be playing prominent roles as we continue to give the community the type of sports coverage you want.

Scott and his wife, Kim, have two sons, Trevor and Drew, who were three-sport athletes at Kennedy High School and now play football at Coe.
