Jensen Sevening of Linn-Mar is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Sevening, a senior, is a prominent member of the Linn-Mar soccer team that is ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 3A. The Lions have a 3-0 record and have outscored their opponents 8-1.

Sevening has collected three goals and one assist for Linn-Mar so far. She scored an unassisted goal in overtime to give the Lions a 2-1 victory over Cedar Falls last Monday.

Sevening also scored a goal in a 4-0 victory over Jefferson and in a 2-0 victory over Xavier.

Sevening was named first team all-state last season.
