Tyler Nunemaker of Cedar Rapids Prairie is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday night.
Nunemaker, a junior, has burst onto the scene this season as one of the top baseball players in the Metro area
Nunemaker is batting .500 with three doubles, one home run, 13 RBIs and nine runs scored in 11 games. He is 16-for-32 at the plate so far.
Nunemaker also has been a strong pitcher for Prairie this season. He has a 2-1 record and 1.17 ERA in three starts, with 10 strikeouts in 12 innings. Nunemaker has surrendered only seven hits and opponents are batting just .135 against him.
The Hawks have gotten off to a 10-2 start this season under new coach Todd Rima.
