Spencer VanScoyoc of Cedar Rapids Jefferson is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

VanScoyoc, a junior, is one of the top baseball players in the state as a left-handed pitcher, center fielder and hitter for the ninth-ranked J-Hawks.

VanScoyoc is hitting .417 this season with two doubles, one triple, one homer, five runs scored and two RBIs in four games. He pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 10-0 victory over Prairie in the semifinals of the Metro Baseball Tournament last Monday.

VanScoyoc has committed to Arizona State and likely will be selected in the 2016 draft next year.
