Clay replaces Mildren on Kernels

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday that pitcher Ethan Mildren has been promoted to Fort Myers and pitcher Sam Clay will rejoin the Kernels from Elizabethton.

Mildren joined the Kernels June 17 and pitched in 12 games. He posted a 4-1 record and 3.51 ERA. The Twins selected Mildren in the 12th round of the draft from the University of Pittsburgh.

Clay was assigned to Extended Spring Training May 18 and made 10 appearances for Elizabethton, posting a 1-3 record and 3.00 ERA. Clay made nine relief appearances for the Kernels this season, posting an 0-2 record and 4.50 ERA. He was selected by the Twins in the fourth round of the 2014 draft from Georgia Tech.
