Dralle, Walsh chasing 2,000 yards

Two Metro area running backs – Kennedy's Tyler Dralle and Marion's Kory Walsh - are approaching the 2,000-yard career rushing mark in high school football.

Walsh has 1,973 career rushing yards, including 448 as a sophomore, 755 as a junior and 770 through six games this season. His career total ranks 12th in Metro history, according to MSR records.

Dralle, who topped the 1,000-yard barrier for the season last Friday, has 1,934 career yards for 13th in Metro annals. He had 915 yards last season and has 1,019 this year.

Dralle leads the Metro and is No. 2 in Class 4A in rushing. He trails Sam Cook of Fort Dodge by 154 yards.

Only 12 players in Metro history have had 2,000 career rushing yards, including four each from Marion and Kennedy. Washington's Andre Dawson is No. 1 with 5,084 from 2007 to 2009.

Washington senior Isaiah Nimmers has cracked the record book for career pass receptions (76) and career receiving yards (1,306). This is his third varsity season. He also is this week's Metro Spotlight Award winner.

The Warriors' Johnny Dobbs is close to putting his name on the Metro record charts with 1,422 career rushing yards, 28 touchdowns and 172 points. He also is a three-year varsity player.

Xavier quarterback Bryce Schulte has the best pass efficiency rating in Class 3A with 14 touchdown passes and just one interception. He is second in Metro passing yards behind Linn-Mar's Reese Phillips. Schulte's 14 TDs ranks No. 4 in Class 3A.

There is a three-way tie for the Metro kick scoring lead among Kennedy's Alex Stone, Washington's Ross Kennedy and Jefferson's Zeb Render. All three have 30 points.

Kennedy's Shaun Beyer and Prairie's Tyler Nunemaker are 1-2, respectively, in 4A in punting average for players who have attempted at least one kick per game. Beyer is averaging 44.5, Nunemaker 42.1.

Washington junior O'Rien Vance is the 4A state leader in tackles for loss with 15, and Kennedy's Dalles Jacobus and Linn-Mar's Shea Hartzler are tied for second with 12. Kennedy's Austin Coates is third in 4A with four interceptions.
