Amanda Ollinger of Linn-Mar is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Ollinger, a 6-foot-1 senior, is one of the top basketball players in the state. She averaged 25 points in two games during the first week of the regular season and helped the 10th-ranked Lions get off to a 2-0 start.

Ollinger poured in 30 points against Waterloo East on Tuesday and followed that performance with 20 points and six steals against Muscatine on Saturday.

Ollinger has scored 948 points during her career at Jefferson and Linn-Mar and is on pace to crack 1,000 points in December.

Ollinger has been named all-state in basketball and volleyball. She has accepted a scholarship to join the University of Iowa women's basketball team next year.

Ollinger spent 2 1/2 years at Jefferson before transferring to Linn-Mar in the middle of the 2014-15 campaign.
