Candace Wilson of Cedar Valley Christian is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Wilson, a senior, averaged 20 points in three games for the Cedar Valley basketball team last week and is averaging 15.1 points for the season.

The Huskies lost their first five games of the year before winning back-to-back contests last week. Wilson collected 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists in a 44-30 victory over English Valleys on Monday, then followed with a 23-point outing in a 52-40 triumph over GMG on Thursday.

Wilson finished the week with 25 points in a loss to Cal-Wheatland on Friday.

Wilson poured in a career-best 26 points in a game earlier this season against Easton Valley. She's enjoyed several games this season with six rebounds, six steals and five assists.
