Mia Laube of Marion is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Laube, a 5-foot-9 sophomore, is a key member of the Marion High School girls basketball that is ranked No. 7 in Class 4A heading into the postseason regional tournament.

The Indians tied Center Point-Urbana for the West Division title in the Wamac Conference with a 13-1 record this year by splitting the regular-season series between the two schools. The Indians have a 17-4 overall mark and are riding a 10-game winning streak.

Laube is averaging 10.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals for Marion. She leads the club in rebounding and ranks second on the team in points, assists and steals behind Chloe Rice.

Laube has been remarkably consistent this season. She has scored in double figures in 14 games and came close in several others.

Her season-highs this season are 17 points against Maquoketa, nine rebounds against Center Point-Urbana, six assists against Williamsburg and five steals against Maquoketa and South Tama.

Corby Laube, Mia's father, is the girls basketball coach and athletic director at Marion.
