PANORA - The Kirkwood Eagles grabbed a five-shot lead on the first day  of the NJCAA Region XI Fall Preview tournament at the Lake Panorama National Resort Sunday in Panora.

Kirkwood finished the first round at 6-over-par 294. DMACC is in second place at 299 heading into the final round Monday.

Niall Powell of Kirkwood fired an even-par 72 and tops the leaderboard  after 18 holes. Max Thrune of Kirkwood is second at 73.
