No. 14 Eagles fall in final seconds

 

WEST BURLINGTON - Kourtney Ware hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds Saturday night to snap a 69-69 tie and give Southeastern Community  College a 72-69 victory over Kirkwood in a men's basketball game.

Kirkwood built a 13-point lead with 14 minutes left in the ballgame, but Southeastern rallied and made it a tight contest. The lead changed  hands several times in the final minutes before the Blackhawks snatched victory at the end.

Chris King made three 3-pointers and tossed in 27 points for Kirkwood  (4-2). Nobody else reached double figures for the Eagles. LJ Stansbury finished with eight points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Ware led Southeastern (4-1) with 16 points.

KIRKWOOD (69): Stansbury 2 4-5 8, Kale 0 0-0 0, Marble 2 2-2 8, Small 1 0-0 3, Ross 3 3-3 9, King 7 10-13 27, Johnson 3 0-0 6, Storey 0 0-0 0, Wilson 3 2-2 8, Arrington 0 0-0 0. Totals 21 21-25 69.

SOUTHEASTERN (72): Dixon-Conover 3 4-5 10, Lakovic 1 1-2 4, Jackson 3 4-4 11, Barton 2 0-0 4, Johnson 0 1-2 1, Riak 0 0-0 0, Ware 5 4-4 16,  Wise 0 0-0 0, Nwagbaraocha 2 2-2 6, Miller 4 0-0 8, Nikolic 6 0-2 12.  Totals 26 16-21 72.
