The Iowa Women's Softball League starts Year 2 on Sunday with three games at Mount Mercy University and two games at Simpson College.

The IWSL began last year with 52 players, but there are 80 players in the league this season with a waiting list to get in.

The Iowa Women's Softball League is the only summer league in Iowa for women's fast-pitch collegiate softball. The 80 players attend 36 different colleges in 11 states.

The triple-header at Busse Field at Mount Mercy begins at noon with Emil's Hideaway facing Hawkeye Convenience Stores. There will be games at 1:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. as well, with Ironside Apparel joining the mix.

The doubleheader at Simpson College features Bosch Financial against Metro Sports Report at 1 p.m. in the new Central Division.

The Hawkeye Convenience Stores are the title sponsor for the Iowa Women's Softball League. The league was created by the Metro Sports Report in 2017.
