Kudumovic named MMU women's soccer coach

Mount Mercy Hall of Famer and NAIA all-American Alen Kudumovic has  been chosen to lead the women's soccer program at Mount Mercy,  Athletic Director Paul Gavin announced Thursday. Kudumovic will assume  the role Dec. 16.

"It's my pleasure to welcome Alen back to Mount Mercy," said Gavin.  "His commitment, dedication and passion for the sport of soccer, along  with his love for this university, is a winning combination that will  strengthen our women's soccer program and support efforts to ensure  quality student-athlete experiences in sport and academics."

Kudumovic graduated from Mount Mercy in 2003 with a degree in business  administration and earned a masters in strategic leadership from the  university in 2018. While pursuing his graduate degree, he served as  the graduate assistant coach for the Mustang men's soccer program from  2016-18.

Kudumovic has been the director of coaching at the Cedar River Soccer  Association (CRSA) since 2010, managing all aspects of the  organization from coaching to organizing camps and showcase events to  budgeting and scheduling. From 2003-10, he was a professional coach  with CRSA. Kudumovic also coached with the Heartland Soccer Club and  was the head boys' soccer coach at Iowa City High School from 2001-03.

"I'm honored and excited to be given the opportunity to coach women's  soccer at Mount Mercy University," Kudumovic said. "As a former  Mustang, I'm driven to build a program with lofty goals. Mount Mercy  athletics have a history of success and I intend to have the women's  soccer program make its own mark on that rich tradition."

During his playing career at Mount Mercy, Kudumovic was a four-time  all-Midwest Classic Conference selection and the MCC Player of the  Year and NAIA honorable mention all-American in 1999. He was part of  the Mount Mercy Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2011.
