Bosch sweeps MSR with superb pitching

WALKER - First came a one-hitter by Ellie Thurow, then came a  14-strikeout performance by the Timmons sisters.

It was a stellar day for Bosch Financial and their outstanding pitching staff.

Thurow, who pitches for Coe College, tossed her one-hitter with five  strikeouts as Bosch waltzed by the Metro Sports Report, 14-0, in the  first game of their doubleheader in the Iowa Women's Softball League  Sunday in Walker.

The Timmons sisters, Allie and Nicole, both hurled three innings in  Game 2 as Bosch Financial rolled again, 8-1. The Timmons sisters pitch  at Drake and both of them collected seven K's Sunday.

The twin-killing lifted Bosch into first place with a 3-0-1 record  after two weeks of the IWSL campaign.

Ceara Larson from Lawrence University had two RBIs and Natalie Blank  from Coe collected two hits and scored twice as Bosch walked away with  the opener.

Sydney Illg of Wartburg, Liv Erickson of Simpson and Ciera Hanson of  Loras all scored twice.

BOSCH FINANCIAL 8, METRO SPORTS REPORT 1

Illg and Blank had two hits for Bosch Financial in the second game.

Lindsey Culver of South Dakota State belted an inside-the-park home  run for Metro Sports Report, her third inside-the-park homer in two  weeks.

IRONSIDE APPAREL 5, EMIL'S HIDEAWAY 4

Ironside Apparel scored three runs in the top of the seven inning to  erase a 4-2 deficit and claim a 5-4 victory in the opener.

Ann Smolenski of Winona State tied the game, 4-4, with an RBI triple  and Makenna Moenk of Mount Mercy followed with a sacrifice fly for the  go-ahead run.

Haley McFarlane of Saint Cloud State had an RBI triple for Ironside.  Erica Oler of UNI went 2-for-2 with a double.

Avery Guy of Iowa had two hits and a double for Emil's Hideaway. Abby  Carlin of Western Illinois socked a triple.

Emily Oler of Mount Mercy picked up the victory in relief.

EMIL'S HIDEAWAY 9, IRONSIDE APPAREL 7

Kate Claypool of Iowa socked a three-run triple in the fourth inning  and belted another three-run triple in the sixth inning to fuel Emil's  9-7 victory in Game 2, giving her three triples in the twinbill.

Brie Tauber of Clarke, Kaylie Reynolds of DMACC and Ari Rolle of  Virginia Wesleyan had two hits for Emil's.

Erica Oler had two doubles and two RBIs for Ironside Apparel. Abigayle  Miller of Southeastern Community College and McFarlane had two hits.
