Kirkwood women stroll in opener, 109-34

WEST BURLINGTON - The Kirkwood Community College women's basketball team opened the season Friday afternoon by blasting Highland Community College, 109-34, in the first round of the Southeastern Classic in West Burlington.

The game was tied, 2-2, when the Eagles scored 29 straight points for a 31-2 bulge. Kirkwood led 58-13 at halftime.

Alexis Fitzpatrick led Kirkwood with 16 points. Sierra Chambers scored 14 points, Shahana Williams netted 12, Kianna Jacobs had 11 and Whitney Rohrbach scored 11.

 

Jacobs and Jerica Hawkins grabbed seven rebounds. Lexi Hobbs had five assists.

 

The Eagles will play Lewis & Clark on Saturday at 11 a.m.
