EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The Kirkwood Eagles walloped top-ranked Lake Michigan, 61-41, in the semifinals of the Illinois Central Classic Saturday.

Kianna Jacobs led the seventh-ranked Eagles (12-3) with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Kirkwood led by just two points at halftime, 29-27, but the Eagles used a 16-3 spurt at the start of the second half to take command. Kirkwood held Lake Michigan (10-2) to just 14 points in the second half.

Kirkwood will face No.8 Illinois Central in the championship game of the holiday tournament Sunday at 4 p.m.

Alexis Fitzpatrick scored 16 points for the Eagles. Kirkwood dominated the backboards, 40-24.

The Eagles held Lake Michigan star Breana Rivoli-Johnson to just five points. She began the tournament at 22.1 points per game. Jabria Hill led Lake Michigan with 12 points.

Lake Michigan finished second in the NJCAA Division II national tournament last season.

Kirkwood has a 5-1 record against ranked teams this season.
