MINNEAPOLIS - The Kirkwood Community College baseball team opened the Todd Rima era with a bang Monday night.

The Eagles swept the College of DuPage, 9-0 and 10-1, in a doubleheader at the Metrodome in Minnesota.

Wilfredo Feliz, Jean Carlos Rodriguez and Dairo Gonzalez combined to hit 15 for 21 with nine RBIs and eight runs scored at the top of the batting order.

Kirkwood used 12 pitchers in the twinbill and allowed only one earned run and six hits in 14 innings. The Eagles also excelled on defense with no errors in either game.

Feliz, the leadoff batter and left fielder, went 6 for 8. Rodriguez, the No.2 hitter and second baseman, was 5 for 7. Gonzalez, the No.3 hitter and third baseman, went 4 for 6.

Collin Belk and Anthony Gagliardi were the starting pitchers for Kirkwood and picked up the victories, although neither righthander went deep into the game.

Rima's ballclub will not play again until a trip to St. Louis in early March.
