VERO BEACH, Fla. - The Kirkwood baseball team's magic in one-run games continued Sunday in Florida.

The Eagles nipped 12th-ranked UConn-Avery Point, 2-1, and trimmed Riverland (Minn.), 3-2, on their spring trip.

Kirkwood (9-1) has won four straight one-run games this season and five overall.

Collin Belk (3-0) pitched a complete game for the Eagles in the 2-1 victory over UConn-Avery Point. He allowed only five hits, struck out five batters and did not walk anyone.

Eric Schenck-Joblinske had a double, stolen base and scored both of Kirkwood's runs against UConn.

The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Riverland to erase a 1-0 deficit. Greg Brodzinski tied the game with an RBI single and Nick Jones gave Kirkwood a 2-1 lead with an RBI single. inch-hitter Ozzie Adams provided an insurance run with a squeeze bunt for a 3-1 lead.

Brodzinski and Jones had two hits against Riverland. Alexis Bauzo (1-0) got the victory in relief and Shane Kemp got the save.

Kirkwood is scheduled to play UConn-Avery Point in a single game Monday afternoon.
