Shane Benton, Josh Montague and Jenna Eells were overshadowed during much of their Linn-Mar basketball careers by other star players, but they'll be all-stars Friday night.

Benton, Montague and Eells are three of the headliners for the 2011 Eastern Iowa All-Star Games that will be played in the Linn-Mar High School gym.

The girls game is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the boys game to follow. There will be a 3-point shootout during halftime of the girls game and a jamfest during halftime of the boys game.

Benton and Montague helped the Lions win the Class 4A state title this year, but Marcus Paige and Matt Bohannon grabbed most of the headlines. Eells was a key reserve when the Linn-Mar girls won the Class 4A state title in 2010 and reached the semifinals this year, but Kiah Stokes was the star.

Paige is just a junior, so he's not eligible for this senior-only event. Bohannon and Stokes elected to use their two permissible all-star game appearances in other events this spring, so neither will be playing Friday.

Benton, a 6-foot-3 guard, and Montague, a 6-7 forward, will be on the same team with Kasey Semler of Marion. Their opponents will feature Josh Oglesby and Wes Washpun of Cedar Rapids Washington, along with Jake Manning and Kyle Lamaak of Kennedy.

The girls all-star game features Tia Dawson of Washington, Olivia Meier of Kennedy, Kristin Kramer of Marion, Brittney Steffeny of Jefferson, Alissa Oney of Washington, Alex Saxen of Xavier and Krissi Tow of Xavier.

Tickets cost $5 for adults and $4 for students. The doors open at 5:15 p.m.
