STORM LAKE - The Coe men battled back from a 16-point deficit against Buena Vista, but lost their seventh straight game, 80-74, Wednesday night in Iowa Conference basketball.

Andrew Wirth scored 23 points to pace the Kohawks (9-11, 1-8).

Cole Darrow scored 24 points to lead Buena Vista (11-9, 6-3).

Coe trailed by 66-50 with 9:55 left in the game.

Wirth dropped in two free throws and nailed a 3-pointer, and Matt Daoust drained two treys to spark a 15-2 Coe run that cut Buena Vista's lead to 68-65 with 6:15 to play.

Wirth's layup with 34 seconds to play pulled the Kohawks within 76-74.

The Beavers' Brett Heitkamp and Alex Savage each cashed in a pair of free throws to seal the win.
