The Washington Warriors climbed one spot to No. 2 in the Class 4A football rankings Sunday by the Des Moines Register.
Washington (3-0) blanked Iowa City West, 28-0, Friday night. The Warriors replaced Waukee in the No. 2 spot in the poll after Waukee lost to top-ranked Dowling, 45-14.
The Linn-Mar Lions (3-0) stayed in the No. 9 berth in the Class 4A rankings and will host Washington in a top-10 showdown Friday night.
The Xavier Saints (2-1) stayed in the No. 1 spot in the Class 3A rankings after blanking then-No. 3 Solon, 28-0. The Spartans fell to fifth in the rankings.
