Hawks stun Paige, Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Former Linn-Mar standout Marcus Paige struggled and the Iowa Hawkeyes took advantage, upsetting No. 12 North Carolina, 60-55, on Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Paige finished with 13 points, but went 4 for 16 from the floor and just 3 of 12 from behind the arc -- including when he bounced one off the rim in the final seconds. Paige also was called for a charge with 50 seconds remaining.

Mike Gesell hit a driving layup through contact for the go-ahead three-point play with 1:16 left to lift Iowa (6-2).

Gesell led Iowa with 16 points. Adam Woodbury added 11 points and Aaron White had 10. Former Jefferson standout Jarrod Uthoff had eight points and five blocked shots. Ex-Washington guard Josh Ogelsby failed to score.

Kennedy Meeks had 15 points and 12 rebounds for UNC (5-2).
