Lions nab 2 titles at Clinton

CLINTON – The Linn-Mar wrestling team won a pair of individual titles and scored 117.5 points for sixth place Saturday at the Bob Lueders Invitational.

Washington scored nine points for 19th place.

Matt Wempen improved to 15-0 with a 12-2 major decision over Sean Gohlke of Milton for the 145-pound title for the Lions. Shea Hartzler (29-1) won the 160 title with an 11-1 major decision over Davenport Assumption’s Joe Argo.

Noah Ajram (24-4) was second at 120 for Linn-Mar, losing a 4-0 decision to Jacob Fenske of Davenport Assumption in the final.

Manny Jeffery was fourth at 170 for the Lions, Brayden Schultz was fifth at 182, A.J. Geers was seventh at 138, Joey Sullivan was eighth at 106, and Baylor Pree was eighth at 195.

Will Foreman finished fifth at 113 to lead the Warriors.
