Xavier senior Morgan Breitbach is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Breitbach, a 5-foot-7 guard, is a key member of the Xavier basketball team that is ranked No. 9 in Class 4A and enjoying a fine season with a 13-5 record. The Saints have won three straight games, including key victories over Linn-Mar and Washington.

Breitbach helps Xavier in a variety of ways. She scored 23 points against Dubuque Senior, collected seven assists against Dubuque Wahlert, made six steals against Decorah, and had six rebounds in three different games.

Breitbach is averaging 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals for the Saints. She is shooting a healthy 55.9 percent from the field and hitting 70 percent of her free throws.
