KCC baseball braces for triple-header

MASON CITY - The Kirkwood baseball team could be headed for a long day at the ballpark Sunday.

The Eagles lost to NIACC, 5-1, in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday in Mason City, but the second game was suspended in the fifth inning due to rain with the score 0-0.

Kirkwood and NIACC were scheduled to play another doubleheader Sunday in Mason City. Now they will finish the suspended game at 1 p.m., followed by the twinbill.

The Eagles got only four hits in the 5-1 loss Saturday. Hayden Sloane went 2-for-4. Nick Drahozal pitched a complete game for Kirkwood, allowing five runs on 10 hits.

NIACC snapped a 1-1 tie with four runs in the sixth inning.

 

The loss dropped Kirkwood to 23-15 overall. NIACC is 26-11. Both clubs have 10-7 records in the ICCAC conference, tied for third place.
