Jared Eivins of Cedar Rapids Jefferson is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Eivins a senior quarterback, rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two TDs Friday night when the J-Hawks defeated Cedar Rapids Prairie, 55-37, in a Class 4A football game at John Wall Field.

Eivins carried the ball 24 times for 102 yards and scored touchdowns from 2, 7 and 3 yards. He completed 8 of 14 passes for 97 yards with a 26-yard TD pass to Jalyn Stafford and an 18-yard strike to Brock Hunt.

The 55 points were the most for Jefferson against a Mississippi Valley Conference team during Coach Brian Webb's four years as head coach.

Eivins missed the entire 2014 campaign with a shoulder injury suffered during the baseball season. He has completed 61 percent of his passes this year for 314 yards and four touchdowns.

Eivins hit 17 of 27 passes for 217 yards and two TDs in a 27-14 loss to Washington in the season opener.

Jefferson hosts Davenport North Thursday night at Kingston Stadium.
