RoughRiders knock off Fargo, 4-1

FARGO, N.D. - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders continued their hot start to the USHL season Thursday night with a 4-1 victory over the Fargo Force before 2,439 fans in Fargo, N.D.

The RoughRiders have outscored their opponents, 22-7, this season and have a perfect 4-0 record. They lead their division with eight points.

Luke Morgan gave Cedar Rapids a 1-0 lead at the 8:56 mark of the first period with an unassisted goal. Fargo countered when Michael Graham scored on a power play at the 10:29 mark.

The rest of the night belonged to the RoughRiders.

Cal Burke made it 2-1 at the 14:39 mark of the first period. Hugh McGing scored in the first minute of the second period with an assist from Ross Colton to make it 3-1, and Charlie Michalowski made it 4-1 with a shot into an empty net late in the game with an assist from Matt Filipe.

Morgan and McGing already have three goals for the RoughRiders this season. Michalowski has scored twice.

Ben Blacker made 33 saves in goal for Cedar Rapids. Blacker, McGing and Graham were named the Stars of the Game.

The RoughRiders play Friday night at Tri-City.
