CLINTON - The Mount Mercy women's basketball team got pounded on the backboards Sunday and lost to Doane, 78-49, in the final round of the Ashford Classic at the Kehl Arena in Clinton.

Doane owned the backboards, 48-27, and turned 22 offensive rebounds into 25 second-chance points.

Alisa Weiland and Makenzie Zeitler led Mount Mercy (3-5) with 10 points apiece. Mount Mercy All-American Abbie Herb missed another game with a hip injury.

Heather Broman topped Doane with 18 points.
