Bohannon wins Metro Spotlight Award

Jordan Bohannon of Linn-Mar is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Bohannon, a senior, put on a remarkable performance Friday night when the Linn-Mar basketball team defeated Cedar Rapids Prairie in a Mississippi Valley Conference game at Linn-Mar.

Bohannon popped in nine 3-pointers and scored a career-best 40 points with a sensational display of outside shooting. He broke his brother Jason's school record for most 3-pointers in a single game and tied for the second-most 3-pointers in Metro history.

Jason Bohannon made eight 3-pointers in a game 10 years ago and was in the stands Friday night to see his brother break his record.

Bohannon is averaging 23.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists this season. He shot 9 for 11 on 3-pointers Friday, grabbed nine rebounds and was 9 for 9 at the foul line.

Bohannon ranks third in career 3-pointers in Metro history with 195 and is tied for 19th in career scoring with 1,138 points. He leads Class 4A this season with 26 3-pointers in six games.

Bohannon, a 6-foot-1 guard, has signed to play college basketball at the University of Iowa.
