Baker, Briggs, Foreman win mat titles

VAN HORNE - Brenden Baker and Kyle Briggs of Cedar Rapids Jefferson won individual titles at the Benton Community wrestling tournament Saturday in Van Horne.

Will Foreman of Cedar Rapids Washington claimed the 126-pound title for the Warriors.

Baker claimed top honors at 120 pounds with a 4-0 victory over Jacob Fenske of Davenport Assumption in the finals. Baker collected two quickpins in 46 seconds and 25 seconds before blanking Fenske, raising his record to 20-4.

Briggs raised his record to 24-0 by winning the 152-pound title. Briggs collected a technical fall and two pins before topping Nick Johnson of Davenport Assumption, 12-6, in the finals.

Foreman pinned Zach Main of Jefferson in 4:15 for the title at 126 pounds. Foreman had two other pins and a 13-6 decision in the tournament, raising his record to 17-1.

Davenport Assumption topped Jefferson, 251.5-200.5, for the championship in the 16-team field. Washington finished 14th with 54 points.

Jefferson got second-place finishes from Joseph Sibomana (113), Main (126), Tavian Rashed (160), Matt Culver (170) and Nick Dreckman (182). Cody Clendensen finished fourth at 145 pounds and Dalton Mastin was fifth at 132.

Logan Black-Marchard finished fifth at 145 pounds for Washington.
