RoughRiders stun Dubuque in OT

DUBUQUE - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders rallied in the final two minutes of the third period Saturday night and stunned the Dubuque Fighting Saints, 5-4, in overtime in a USHL game before 3,347 fans at the Mystique Ice Center in Dubuque.

The RoughRiders trailed, 4-2, with only two minutes left in the third period when they pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in team history.

Justin Cole scored at the 18:05 mark to pull Cedar Rapids within 4-3, then Ross Colton found the net with only 23 seconds left in the stanza to make it 4-4 and force overtime.

Matt Filipe finished the comeback by scoring at the 4:42 mark of overtime with assists from Jacob Hayhurst and Mitch Reinke. It was Filipe's second goal of the game.

Ben Blacker stopped 40 shots in goal for the RoughRiders.

Cedar Rapids leads the Eastern Conference of the USHL with 57 points, good for a six-point cushion over Dubuque and Green Bay.
