Addy Pender, who played in the summer league this year, has enrolled again for the 2018 campaign. Pender, a catcher and first baseman, starred at Johnston High School as a prep. She hit .245 with four homers and 17 RBIs as a sophomore at Luther College last season when the Norse won the Iowa Conference title.

Pender helped Johnston win the Class 5A state title in 2014 and make three straight trips to the state tournament. She was named to the all-state team in 2015.

Thirteen players have already joined the Iowa Women's Softball League for next summer since registration began Sept. 1. Nine of those players have enrolled for the Eastern Division in Cedar Rapids and four have enrolled in the new Central Division in Indianola and Ames.

The Iowa Women's Softball League was created by the Metro Sports Report and is the only summer college program in the state.
