Poor-shooting half dooms women

SEDALIA, Mo. -- The Kirkwood women's basketball team suffered its first defeat Friday night in a 67-50 loss to State Fair Community College.

Kirkwood (4-1) led by as many as 15 points in the first half before settling on a 10-point lead 35-25 at the half.

But poor shooting doomed the Eagles in the second half. Kirkwood made just 5 of 19 shots (26.3 percent) and was outscored 42-15 in the period.

Bianca Dufelmeier led the Eagles with 12 points.

Kirkwood plays Three Rivers, Mo. (5-1) on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Three Rivers beat Wabash Valley 58-55 in overtime on Friday.

State Fair is 4-2.
