Kirkwood - Volleyball

Dittmer helps No. 4 Eagles split matches

NORFOLK, Neb. - Aubrin Dittmer collected 25 kills Saturday as the fourth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team split two matches at  the Northeast Tournament in Nebraska.

Dittmer had 10 kills to help the Eagles defeat Southeastern, 25-16,  22-25, 25-21, 25-16, in their first match. She had 15 more kill shots as the Eagles lost to North Dakota State College of Science, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20.

Kirkwood compiled a 3-1 record in the two-day tournament and has a 6-3 record for the season.

Kirkwood - Volleyball

No. 4 Eagles sweep matches in Nebraska

NORFOLK, Neb. - Anna Gorsich collected 23 kills Friday as the  fourth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team swept both of its  matches at the Northeast Tournament in Norfolk, Neb.

Gorsich had 11 kills in a 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 victory over McCook  Community College and had 12 more kills in a 25-15, 25-13, 25-12  conquest of Williston Community College.

Aubrin Dittmer contributed 11 kills against McCook. Madi Wagaman had  27 assists. Maranda Wheelock and Olivia Richards made 14 digs and  Wagaman had 13. Maggie Peters blocked six shots and Gorsich had five  blocks.

Kirkwood - Volleyball

No. 4 Eagles edged by Grand View JV

The fourth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team made a strong  comeback Tuesday night, but the rally fell short against the Grand  View junior varsity team at Johnson Hall.

Kirkwood lost the first two sets, but the Eagles claimed the third and  fourth sets by identical scores of 25-21 to force a fifth and decisive  game. The Vikings won the showdown, 15-9, to claim the victory.

Grand View won 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 15-9.

No. 4 Eagles finish 3-1 at tournament

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Freshman Olivia Richards collected 31 kills Saturday as the fourth-ranked Kirkwood Eagles split their final two matches at the McHenry volleyball tournament in Rockford, Ill.

Richards had 15 kills as the Eagles lost to Kansas City Community College, 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 25-21, in their first match. She then had 16 kills as Kirkwood topped Grand Rapids Community College, 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22, in their next contest.

Kirkwood finished with a 3-1 record at the McHenry tournament to begin the season.

Gorsich, Richards help No.4 Eagles take openers

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Freshmen Anna Gorsich and Olivia Richards made impressive debuts for the fourth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team Friday at the McHenry Invitational in Rockford, Ill.

Gorsich and Richards both had 19 kills as the Eagles defeated Waubonsee, 19-25, 25-20, 25-11, 26-24, and swept Illinois Valley, 25-14, 25-16, 25-23, in the season openers.

Gorsich, from Linn-Mar High School, collected 10 kills, 10 digs and five aces against Waubonsee. Richards, from Xavier High School, had 10 kills, five digs, three blocks and two aces in that match.

Gorsich contributed nine kills and eight digs against Illinois Valley. Richards had nine kills and 12 digs in that contest.
