Schuring named Mount Mercy women's basketball coach

Mount Mercy Athletic Director Paul Gavin has announced that Tim Schuring has been selected to lead the Mustang women's basketball program beginning April 1.

"We're excited to welcome Tim to the Mount Mercy family," said Gavin. "He has extensive experience coaching and teaching the game of basketball at all levels and has revived collegiate programs into conference and national contenders.

"Tim's passion for creating a strong and positive team culture will be integral to the success of our women's basketball program."

Schuring founded TNT5 Basketball Development in 2008, and since then the organization has gained a reputation as one of the best skill development organizations in Iowa. Over the past 12 years he has served as owner, head coach and skill trainer. Most recently, his focus has been coaching the Iowa Prep 15-under girls club team and 17-under boys squad.

Mount Mercy - Women's Basketball

Lambe helps Mustangs slam Bees

Cael Lambe belted a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning  Wednesday to help Mount Mercy clip St. Ambrose, 7-3, in a  non-conference baseball game at the Plaster Athletic Complex.

The Mustangs trailed, 3-2, heading into the bottom of the eighth. They  tied the score, 3-3, before Lambe connected for the game-winner.

The victory left Mount Mercy at 5-7 for the season. St. Ambrose fell to 4-5.

Michael Barbato had two hits for the Mustangs. Collin Shrader scored twice.

Mount Mercy - Women's Basketball

Mims ends with 30-91 mark with Mustangs

Micha Mims finished her tenure as the women's basketball coach at  Mount Mercy with a 104-52 loss to MidAmerica Nazarene Saturday in a  Heart of America Conference game at the Hennessey Recreation Center.

Mims compiled a 30-91 record in four years with the Mustangs, who  finished 5-24 overall this year and 2-22 in the conference.

Chailey Cabalis scored 19 points for Mount Mercy and Brianna Thomas  had 18. Whitney Clampitt scored 21 points for MidAmerica Nazarene  (17-10, 16-8).

Mount Mercy - Women's Basketball

Mount Mercy women fall by 30

OSKALOOSA - The Mount Mercy women's basketball team lost to  18th-ranked William Penn, 71-41, Wednesday night in a Heart of America  Conference game in Oskaloosa.

Brianna Thomas scored 18 points for the Mustangs (5-23, 2-21).

Kate Ylitalo scored 14 points and former Kirkwood player Olivia Usher  had 12 points for William Penn (22-6, 18-5).

Mount Mercy - Women's Basketball

Mustang women fall to Peru State

The Mount Mercy women's basketball team lost to Peru State, 66-52, in  a Heart of America Conference game at the Hennessey Recreation Center  Saturday.

The setback dropped the Mustangs to 5-22 overall and 2-20 in the  league. Sandra Mia scored 12 points for Mount Mercy and Kennedi Fulwylie had 10. Brianna Thomas, one of Mount Mercy's top  players, did not play.

Dayna Dewitt scored 12 points for Peru State (11-15, 9-13).

PERU STATE (66): Giovanna Silva 3-12 0-0 6, Claire Cudney 2-9 2-4 6,  Brooke Maeda 2-4 0-0 6, Dayne Dewitt 4-7 4-6 12, Alyssa Marsh-Contreras 4-13 2-6 11, Allison Tichy 3-7 0-0 9, Nytasia  Braxton 1-6 5-6 8, Maddy McPhillips 1-6 2-4 5, Anjanea Simms 0-0 1-2 1, Olivia Bell 1-4 0-2 2. Totals 21-68 16-30 66.
