J-Hawk netters top Prairie

Jacob Donald, Nate Weger, Alex Tvedte and Kellen Brown won their singles matches Saturday as Jefferson clipped Prairie, 7-2, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Prairie.

Donald defeated Connor Anthony at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Prairie lost to Iowa City West, 7-2, in its other match Saturday.

Gaddis sparks No.11 Prairie

DUBUQUE - Spencer Gaddis scored three goals Thursday as 11th-ranked Prairie booted Dubuque Wahlert, 5-2, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match in Dubuque.

Zach Lefebure and Mitch Renwick also scored for the Hawks. Seth Rinderknecht collected three assists and Logan Rinderknecht had one assist.

Prairie raised its records to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the MVC.

Xavier girls nip Prairie in tennis

Claire Bouchard and Jeanne Bouchard collected three points for the Xavier Saints Thursday as they nipped Prairie, 5-4, in a Mississippi Valley Conference tennis meet at Prairie.

Bouchard and Bouchard won their singles matches and combined for a victory at No.2 doubles. Katie Neumeyer also won her singles match for the Saints and combined with Emma Deignan for a crucial victory at No.3 doubles.

Vale Caro and Magui Caro won their singles matches for Prairie and combined for a victory at No.1 doubles. Lauren O'Brian also won for the Hawks.

Marion boys pop into soccer rankings

The Marion Indians jumped into the boys soccer rankings Wednesday as the No.12 team in Class 2A, according to the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association.

This is the first time Marion has been ranked all year.

The Metro area now has six teams in the rankings.

The Class 3A rankings show Kennedy at No. 4, Linn-Mar at No. 5, Washington at No.6 and Prairie at No. 11.

The Class 2A rankings have Xavier at No. 4 and Marion at No. 12.

No. 2 Lions boot Prairie, 4-0

Olivia Garcia scored two goals Tuesday night as No.2 Linn-Mar blanked Prairie, 4-0, in a Mississippi Valley Conference soccer match at Linn-Mar Stadium.

Claire Larson and Jensen Sevening also tallied for the Lions.

Sevening and Garcia had assists.
