Smith-Drahos paces Hawks by Warriors

Max Smith-Drahos scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Prairie boys basketball team to a 78-65 win over Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference game Tuesday at Prairie.

Jalen Rima collected 20 points, seven rebounds and five steals for the Prairie Hawks (7-11, 5-8). Cal Clark added 14 points.

Hunter Strait led the Warriors (6-11, 3-9) with 22 points. Laveechie Williams scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds. Keion Wills added 12 points.

WASHINGTON (65): Wills 4 2-2 12, Strait 5-6 22, Dawson 2 0-0 4, Hobbs 3 2-2 2, Thomas 2 2-2 7, Jackson 1 0-0 3, Williams 7 1-2 15. Totals 23 12-14 65.

PRAIRIE (78): Copeland 1 3-3 5, Clark 4 5-5 14, Smith-Drahos 9 7-7 25, Eilers 1 1-2 4, Rima 7 5-11 20, Hook 1 0-0 2, Serbousek 1 2-2 4, Oxley 2 0-0 4. Totals 26 23-30 78.

Blood wins Metro Spotlight Award

Rylee Blood of Cedar Rapids Prairie is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school girls this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Blood, a senior, leads all Metro bowlers this season with a 196.7 game average and 393.4 series. She's rolled a high game of 266 this season and a high series of 470.

Blood ranks seventh overall in the state this year. Last year, she helped the Hawks place third at the Class 3A state tournament.

Blood has big day for Prairie girls

WATERLOO – Rylee Blood shot a 266 game and a 470 series as the Prairie girls bowling team topped Waterloo East 3,033-2,852 in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Cadillac Lanes.

Ashley Cary rolled a 458 series for the Trojans.

PRAIRIE: Rylee Blood 266-204=470, Jade Klinefelter 165-247=412, Sabrina Keiper 203-179=382, Mikayla Hite 199-169=368, Kaitlyn Early 200-168=368, Ashley Sundstrom 139-201=340.

Hunt, Toczylowski lead Prairie bowlers

WATERLOO – Walker Hunt rolled a 382 series and Paul Toczylowski shot a 204 game and 381 series to lead the Prairie boys bowling team to a 2,599-2,358 win over Waterloo East in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at Cadillac Lanes.

Tannis Morgan had a 434 series for the Trojans.

Prairie boys nipped by Rams

DUBUQUE - The Cedar Rapids Prairie boys basketball team suffered a tough 43-42 loss to Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference game in Dubuque Friday night.

Jake Eilers scored 11 points for Prairie (6-10, 4-7). Cal Clark, Max Smith-Drahos and Ryan Oxley had eight points.

Dubuque Senior raised its records to 10-6 overall and 6-5 in the league.

PRAIRIE (42): Copeland 0 0-0 0, Clark 3 2-2 8, Smith-Drahos 4 0-0 8, Eilers 4 0-0 11, Rima 0 0-0 0, Hook 0 0-1 0, Kilpatrick 2 2-2 7, Serbousek 0 0-0 0, Oxley 4 0-0 8. Totals 17 4-5 42.
