Coe baseball team drops twinbill

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Coe College baseball team was swept by Ramapo, 6-5 and 6-1, in a doubleheader Friday in Florida.

The Kohawks (4-3) jumped to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the opener, but they did not score again in the seven-inning game. Kevin Delaney had two hits for Coe.

The Kohawks managed only three hits in the second game.

Kohawk men net 2 wins

The 36th-ranked Coe men’s tennis team earned a pair of wins, beating Rochester 5-4 Thursday morning at Lakeland, Fla., and beating Wheaton 6-3 in the afternoon at Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Although the Kohawks earned the two team wins, it was a bad day for 15th-ranked No. 1 singles player Brady Anderson, who lost both of his matches.

Riley Galbraith won both of his No. 2 singles matches, however, and the Kohawks won five of their six doubles matches on the day.

Coe improved to 14-2. Rochester fell to 3-6, and Wheaton fell to 5-6.

Rochester tops Coe in women’s tennis

LAKELAND, Fla. – Rochester beat the Coe women’s tennis team 6-3 Thursday at Beerman Tennis Center.

Haley Resnik and Sarah Lasecki won the Nos. 2 and 4 singles matches for the Kohawks, who fell to 10-6. Kaitlin Fosler and Diannah Watson teammed up to win the No. 3 doubles match.

Rochester improved to 2-4.

Coe’s afternoon match against Wheaton in Orlando, Fla., was canceled due to illness on the Wheaton team.

Jacobson pitches 3-hitter for Coe

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Ben Jacobson pitched a three-hitter to lead the Coe baseball team to a 2-1 win over Beloit on Thursday at Lake Myrtle Park.

Jacobson allowed two walks with nine strikeouts for his first win of the season.

Michael Redmond hit 2-for-3 with a triple, and Andrew Brierton hit 2-for-4 for the Kohawks (4-1).

Brierton singled in the top of the ninth inning, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Alec Zwanziger, advanced to third on an error and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Dan Urban.

Coe softball wins 2 in Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Coe softball team earned a pair of wins, beating Bridgewater 11-0 in five innings and Husson 8-0, Thursday at Oren Brown Park.

Maliah Fligg (3-0) pitched a five-inning no-hitter against Bridgewater with four walks and three strikeouts. She also doubled with an RBI.

Paige Wieland hit 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, Sarah Czachowski hit 1-for-2 wih two RBIs, Mallory McArtor tripled with a run and an RBI, and McCall Meade had two RBIs.

Bridgewater fell to 3-4.

Alyssa Olson (3-0) scattered three hits against Husson with two walks and nine strikeouts.

McArtor hit 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Haley Jones hit 2-for-4, and Brenna Winn had two RBIs.
