Baccam powers Jefferson with 478

Victor Baccam had a 478 series to lead the Jefferson boys bowling team to a 3,391 to 2,731 win over Waterloo East on Friday at May City Lanes. Chaise Donner had a 473 series for the J-Hawks.

Kody Smith led the Trojans with a 431 series.

Jefferson (3,391): Victor Baccam 245-233=478, Chaise Donner 245-228=473, Hunter Sturtz 205-247=452, Noah Tiedtke 226-202=428, Tyler Fowler 196-141=337.

Waterloo East (2,731): Kody Smith 234-197=431, Bryce Staver 191-180=371, Chris Smith 177-180=357, Chris Brown 169-168=337, Tannis Morgan 170-158=328, Brennan D 114-144=258.

Sturtz rolls 506 for Jefferson

Hunter Sturtz had a 506 series to lead the Jefferson boys bowling team to a 3,228 to 2,577 win over Prairie on Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Sawyer Hansen had a 405 series for the Prairie Hawks.

Jefferson (3,228): Hunter Sturtz 259-247=506, Victor Baccam 216-234=450, Chaise Donner 206-236=442, Tyler Fowler 222-190=412, Noah Tiedtke 185-212=397.

Hunter Sturtz wins Metro Spotlight Award

Cedar Rapids Jefferson junior Hunter Sturtz is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Sturtz has blossomed into one of the top bowlers in the state this season. He has dramatically improved his averages this year and leads the Metro area with a 242.8 game average and 485.5 series average so far. He ranks fourth in the state in both categories.

Sturtz had a 200.5 game average and 400.0 series average last year as a sophomore, so he has shown marked improvement this season in the early going. Jefferson has gotten off to a 2-0 start with victories over Washington and Iowa City High.

Baccam’s 501 leads Jefferson

Victor Baccam had a 501 series to lead the Jefferson boys bowling team to a 3,075 to 2,380 win over Washington on Friday at Lancer Lanes.

Chris Schuttloffel had a 337 series for the Warriors.

 

Jefferson: Victor Baccam 279-222=501, Hunter Sturtz 223-235=458, Noah Tiedtke 200-242=442, Chaise Donner 165-177=342, Tyler Fowler 175-166=341.

Sturtz leads J-Hawks over Little Hawks

Hunter Sturtz had a 513 series to lead the Jefferson boys bowling team to a 3,398 to 2,494 season-opening win over Iowa City High Tuesday at May City Bowl. Sturtz also had the high game with 279 pins.

Colby Melsha led the Little Hawks with a 355 series.

Jefferson (3,398): Hunter Sturtz 234-279=513, Noah Tiedtke 227-266=493, Victor Baccam 228-237=465, Tyler Fowler 268-187=455, Chaise Donner 225-204=429.
