Healy leads Jefferson bowlers by I.C. West

IOWA CITY -- Dan Healy bowled a 463 series and a 247 game Friday as Jefferson defeated Iowa City West 2,923-2,718 in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet at Colonial Lanes.

Tory Youker rolled a 409 series and a 208 game for the J-Hawks. Michael Kilts contributed a 394 series and 203 game, while James Bruce rolled a 234 game.

Michael Whetstone led West with a 387 series.

Healy, Kilts lead J-Hawks' rout of Wahlert

Jefferson senior Dan Healy and junior Michael Kilts both rolled 279 games to lead the J-Hawks to a 3184-2764 win over Dubuque Wahlert in a Mississippi Valley Conference meet Friday at May City Bowl.

Healy also rolled a 254 game for a 533 series.  He has a 237.3 per game average in MVC meets.  

Kilts had a 496 series.

J-Hawks fight back, finish 3rd at Prairie

Prairie knocked off Jefferson in the first round and went on to win the Prairie Invitational Baker boys bowling tournament Dec. 18 at Lancer Lanes.

The Hawks lost only one game and won all five of its matches in the tournament.

The tournament used a Baker format. Each team’s five bowlers would roll alternate frames (e.g., the first bowler would roll frames one and six, the second two and seven, etc.). Matches were best of three.

Subpar J-Hawks upset by Wahawks

WATERLOO — Jefferson rolled 440 pins below its average and was upset by Waterloo West, 2764-2747, Friday (Dec. 17) in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys’ bowling meet.

Jefferson (2-2) came into the meet with an average score of 3187. But a sub-par first round dropped the J-Hawks 40 pins behind the Wahawks (1-3) and they were unable to catch up in the Baker round.

Michael Kilts led the J-Hawks with a 219 high game and 421 series.

Jefferson - Boys Bowling

J-Hawks' depth holds off Warriors

Jefferson had three bowlers roll 400 series en route to a 3086-2921 win over Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference match Friday (Dec. 10) at May City Bowl.

Dan Healy led the J-Hawks with a 236 high game and 440 series.  Will James went 230-426 and James Bruce 224-419.
