
Mustangs still ticking at Heart
OZARK, Mo. - The Mount Mercy baseball team won both of its elimination games at the Heart of America Conference tournament Saturday to reach the Final 4 of the postseason event.
The Mustangs (28-22) will face 17th-ranked Central Methodist (34-13) in another elimination game Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at US Baseball Park.
Mount Mercy blasted Peru State, 14-2, Saturday in the completion of a game that was suspended by rain Friday. The Mustangs then clipped MidAmerica Nazarene, 11-8, to keep their tournament hopes alive again.
Mount Mercy center fielder Evan Jackson went 5-for-10 in the two elimination games with three runs and seven RBIs.
Jackson was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs in the 14-2 victory over Peru State. Kobi Candaroma drove in three runs for the Mustangs. Chili Moseley was 2-for-4 and scored three times.
