PDF

WATERLOO - The Cedar Rapids Prairie girls basketball team came home from Waterloo Friday night with big smiles and a big prize.

The Hawks won their first Mississippi Valley Conference title in school history with an impressive 53-45 victory over Waterloo West.

"I'm very excited for the kids. They deserve it," said Prairie Coach Steve Doser. "They played so well and so hard. I'm just very proud."

Prairie and Waterloo West entered the final game of the regular season with identical 9-3 records in the Valley Division in the conference, so both squads knew the winner would claim the division crown with a victory.
