IOWA CITY - The Linn-Mar Lions placed third in the distance medley at the Demon Indoor girls track meet Monday at the University of Iowa Recreation Center.

The Lions broke the meet record in 4:22.39, but Iowa City West won the race in 4:19.74.

Sara Strauel finished fourth in the high jump for Linn-Mar and the Lions also took fourth in the 4x800 relay. Maleta Montague placed sixth in the 60 hurdles and Halley Morgan finished eighth in the 60 meter dash for Linn-Mar.

Carlie Jurgens placed fifth for Xavier in the 400 meter dash.

Linn-Mar freshman Stephanie Jenks, who won the state cross country title last fall, did not compete in Monday's meet. She plans to make her track debut next Monday at a major meet in Ames.

Twenty-six teams participated in Monday's meet.
