The Minnesota Twins have promoted Kernels pitchers Tyler Duffey and Manuel Soliman to Fort Myers of the Florida State League, Manager Jake Mauer confirmed Tuesday night.
Duffey was 3-2 with a 2.78 ERA in nine starts. He walked only six and struck out 47 in 58.1 innings.
Soliman was 3-1 with one save and a 5.28 ERA in 17 relief appearances. He walked 18 and struck out 28 in 29 innings.
The Twins have assigned to the Kernels right-handed pitcher Christian Powell from extended spring training and right-handed pitcher Caleb Brewer, who recently was released by the Atlanta Braves organization.
Brewer, 24, was released May 31 by Lynchburg of the Carolina League, where he was 0-1 with a 4.01 ERA in 15 relief appearances. He was a 14th-round pick of the Braves in the June 2007 draft.
Powell, 21, was the Twins' eighth-round pick in the June 2012 draft out of the College of Charleston. He was 1-0 with one save and a 5.24 ERA in 10 relief appearances for Elizabethton in the Appalachian (Rookie) League last summer.
