Kayla Armstrong added another honor to her growing list Tuesday.

Armstrong was named the Metro Player of the Year by the local coaches. She already has been named first team all-state, the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division Player of the Year, and captain of the Class 2A all-tournament team.

Armstrong was joined by Xavier teammates Sammi Shepard and Monica Busse on the all-Metro first team.

Linn-Mar had four first team selections: Rylie Frese, Olivia Garcia, Jensen Sevening and Malory Garman.

Kennedy had three players on the first team: Tory Harman, Kaela Dickerman and Jordan Holmes. Harman earlier was named MVC Mississippi Division Player of the Year.

Washington (Sarah Keppler), Marion (Lauren Rausch), Prairie (Mackenzie Serbousek) and Jefferson (Shalyn Kinney) had one player apiece on the first team.

Bailey Dorrington, who guided Xavier to its eighth straight state championship in her first year, was named Coach of the Year.
