Huskies win 1st game in school history

TAMA - It took two years and 35 games, but the Cedar Valley Christian baseball team finally won a game Saturday.

The Huskies defeated the Meskwaki Settlement School, 19-4, in four innings in Tama to snap their 34-game losing streak.

Cedar Valley Christian finished 0-18 last year in its first season of IHSAA competition and began this season with 16 straight losses.

Travis Geels, an eighth grader, pitched all four innings Saturday for the victory.

Will Muhlbach, Eric Gustafson, Joshua Rath, Tom Scroggs and Mike Scroggs had two hits for the Huskies. Gustafson and Tom Scroggs drove in three runs. Geels had two RBIs.

Meskwaki has lost all 14 of its games this season and was 0-7 last year.
