J-Hawks receive Wall/Found spirit award

PDF

The Cedar Rapids Jefferson football program will receive a "Just Drew It/Live Like Line" award for its support of the Eivins family.

Gail Eivins, 50, a Jefferson parent, booster and youth coach, died Aug. 14 following a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Members of the Jefferson community and football program supported the family the past year by helping with meals and chores. Ryan Eivins, one of Gail's sons, is a freshman football coach at Jefferson. Jared, another son, plays on the sophomore football team.

The Jefferson football team wore their football jerseys to Gail Eivins' funeral in support of the family.

The "Just Drew It/Live Like Line" award is named in honor of former Kennedy golfer Drew Wall and former Iowa City West volleyball player Caroline Found. Wall died last November due to cancer and Found died in 2011 in a moped accident.

The award is supported by their families, Kennedy High School and Iowa City West. The award honors spirit, dignity and honor.
