Prairie jumps to No.1 in rankings

The Cedar Rapids Prairie boys cross country team jumped into the No.1 spot in the Class 4A rankings Wednesday by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.

Prairie won the Cedar Rapids Invitational last Thursday and climbed all the way from No.11 to the top spot among the biggest schools in the state.

Linn-Mar, which had been No.1, fell to No.3 in the rankings, but the Lions have been running without state track champion Josh Evans, who is expected to return this Saturday at the Heartland Classic in Ames.

 

Kennedy is ranked No.4 in the Class 4A girls poll. Linn-Mar fell from No.4 to No.5 in the rankings.

1. Prairie, 2. Johnston, 3. Linn-Mar, 4. Waukee, 5. Cedar Falls, 6. Dowling, 7. Pleasant Valley, 8. Ames, 9. Hempstead, 10. Dubuque Senior, 11. Iowa City High, 12. Iowa City West, 13. West Des Moines Valley, 14. Burlington, 15. Muscatine.
