Cedar Rapids Prairie senior Trey Blaha is the winner of the Metro Spotlight Award for high school boys this week, the Metro Sports Report announced Sunday.

Blaha won the 152-pound title at the Mississippi Valley Conference wrestling tournament in Waterloo Feb. 1 to help Prairie win its second straight MVC championship.

Blaha placed sixth at 126 pounds at the 2012 state wrestling tournament and finished fourth at 138 pounds at the state meet last year. He is currently ranked No.4 at 152 pounds by The Predicament heading into the postseason tournaments.

Blaha won a major championship at the Mendenhall Invitational in Ames this season for the seventh-ranked Hawks.

MSR: What is your favorite individual highlight in sports?

TREY: My favorite individual high school wrestling memory is being a two-time state place-winner.

MSR: What is your favorite team highlight in sports?

TREY: My favorite team high school wrestling memory is winning the Mississippi Valley Conference two years in a row.

MSR: Who has had the biggest influence on your sports career?

TREY: The biggest influence on my sports career has been my dad.

MSR: What are your future goals in sports?

TREY: If I continue to go on and wrestle in college, I hope to become a better wrestler than I was in high school and eventually get to the national tournament and become a national champion at any level of college wrestling.

MSR: What are your favorite classes in school?

TREY: My favorite class in school is sociology.

MSR: What has been your favorite community service project?

TREY: My favorite community service project is when my church had a can drive and my confirmation class was the ones who were able to donate the cans to homeless shelters. So we got to visit with people that were living there and got to hear some interesting stories about other people's experiences.
